President, Serve and Return Foundation

Danny played number 1 singles and doubles for SPSU and earned number 1 rankings several years in open divisions in the state of GA.  He married his wife Kathy in 1977 and they have two sons.  Coach Carlson implemented a very successful and innovative coaching style in the early 80's exemplified by turning out numerous juniors ranked top 20 in the country and several students to make top 500 on the professional tours. Todd, their youngest son, was ranked 16 nationally in the 18's. Chad, their oldest was top 10 nationally his last four years of juniors and competed in the US and French Jr Opens. Chad was a finalist in the Easter Bowl 18's where he lost to Brian Vahaly another one of Danny's former students.  Chad won two professional ATP events and is the youngest male player to ever win the individual SEC singles and doubles tournament. He won two NCAA team Championships and clinched the title in 2001. In January, 2008, Coach Carlson retired from 30 years of government management and converted his 20 year part-time advanced junior program to a full-time tennis academy that serves approximately 150 juniors.
